Ammodo Architecture honours 26 projects shaping a more social and ecological built environment

Ammodo Architecture Award 2025 announced!

The second edition of the Ammodo Architecture Award celebrates 26 architectural projects from around the world that set new standards for socially and ecologically responsible design. Selected from 168 entries across more than 60 countries, the awardees range from leading studios to grassroots collectives working in both urban and rural contexts.

The awarded projects range from a community space in Dhaka and a library in rural China to adaptive housing in Austria and an open classroom in the Amazon. Together, the projects show how architecture can contribute to repairing ecological systems, strengthen communities and rethink how we live together. Each recipient receives between €10,000 and €150,000 to develop new projects.

This year’s selection reflects the depth and diversity of architectural thinking today. The 26 awardees demonstrate how architecture engages with the world – socially, ecologically and imaginatively.

Awardees were selected by an international advisory committee consisting of six renowned architects and cultural professionals from around the globe: Joumana El Zein Khoury, Andrés Jaque, Anupama Kundoo, Floris Alkemade, Mariam Issoufou and Loreta Castro Reguera.

The top distinction, the Social Architecture Award (worth €150,000), went to SHAU (Indonesia) for Kampung Mrican Phase 1, and gaupenraub+/– (Austria) for VinziRast am Land – both examples of community-led, resource-conscious design.

An additional 24 projects are honoured in the Social Engagement and Local Scale categories, highlighting initiatives that use design as a tool for empowerment and ecological stewardship.
