Ammodo Architecture Days 2026

Ammodo Architecture Days brings together leading voices in socially and ecologically responsible architecture

On 9 and 10 November 2026, Ammodo Architecture hosts the first edition of the Ammodo Architecture Days. This recurring, invitation-only event brings together professionals and communities from across the globe for a symposium, an exhibition, a publication launch and an award ceremony. We aim to create a platform for dialogue across disciplines and contexts, and for exploring new directions in social and ecological architecture.

‍

Over two fully packed days, architects, landscape architects, urban planners, artists, communities, collectives and multidisciplinary design teams – including the recipients of the Ammodo Architecture Award 2024 and 2025 – will gather to share knowledge, experiences, ideas and challenges. From 2026 onwards, the Ammodo Architecture Award and the Ammodo Architecture Days alternate biennially, complementing each other.

‍

Taking place at Westergas, a former industrial site where Ammodo Architecture is based, the event is centred around six interconnected themes: Reclaim, Heritage, Urban Acupuncture, Rebalance, Mastering Material and Reuse. These themes are exemplified by the 49 awarded projects of 2024 and 2025. Together they demonstrate how imagination and collective action can bring relevant responses to social and ecological challenges, creating resilient futures while strengthening collective wellbeing.

Ammodo Architecture Days: a four-part programme

More than a meeting of experts, Ammodo Architecture Days is designed as a platform where ideas and experiences from various contexts converge. Tools and processes are tested, successes and failures are equally welcome. Together we will explore how local architectural knowledge can bring relevant solutions for community-focused and environmental architecture.

‍

The symposium

The symposium brings together award recipients, members of the Ammodo Architecture Advisory Committee, ambassadors and international experts for a day of lectures, conversations and workshops. Contributors include Andrés Jaque, Anupama Kundoo, Floris Alkemade, Loreta Castro Reguera and Aric Chen.

‍

The exhibition

A curated exhibition designed by Thonik, Studio LMNOP and Fiction Factory showcases projects of Ammodo Architecture Award recipients from 2024 and 2025. Rather than presenting the projects solely as finished works, the exhibition explores the ideas, processes and contexts behind them, offering an introduction to diverse approaches to socially and ecologically responsible architecture across the world. The exhibition will subsequently travel internationally.

‍

The publication

A new publication accompanying the Ammodo Architecture Days, published by Hatje Cantz, presents essays by leading contributors alongside in-depth analysis of the awarded projects. Reflecting on themes emerging from the recipients of the Ammodo Architecture Award across its last two editions, the publication explores how architecture can respond to today’s pressing social and ecological challenges.

The award ceremony

The ceremony celebrates the recipients of the 2024 and 2025 Ammodo Architecture Award. Presented across three categories (Social Architecture, Social Engagement and Local Scale), the awards recognise outstanding contributions ranging from locally driven initiatives and collaborative practices to internationally recognised buildings that demonstrate excellence in addressing social and ecological challenges. The award itself is designed by Atelier NL.
